Article full text:
Responding to the Supreme Administrative Court ruling permitting divorced Copts to marry again, his Holiness Pope Shenouda III asserted that the Coptic Orthodox Church will not give up its current regulation that gives divorced people the right to a second marriage only in the case of proved adultery of the partner.

Pope Shenouda stated in his sermon in Alexandria that the clergy performs marriage according to religious rules, asserting that he will never violate the Biblical rules under any condition, and that he was ready to shoulder the full responsibility in this matter.

Pope Shenouda elaborated that divorce is permitted only in the case of adultery of the other partner, noting that any concession in these matters is a concession against doctrine that is not acceptable.
