In a session of International Council for Human Rights, Egypt refuses to sign four recommendations relating to the resistance of torture.

Egypt refused to sign recommendations by the International Council for Human Rights which invite countries to join on an additional convention to resist torture. Egypt signed 21 out of 25 recommendations. During the International Council, Dr. Mufīd Shihāb, the State’s Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, explained the reasons why Egypt refused to sign those four recommendations. Hishām Badr, permanent Egyptian deputy in the European headquarters of the UN, confirmed the members of the ICHR’s seriousness in raising human rights conditions in Egypt, pointing out that signing 21 recommendations is a record for Egypt.
