2. Draft law on construction of houses of worship released

Article summary:

Veteran journalist Salāh 'Isá writes that every time sectarian incidents break out, a lot of talking emerges on a unified law regulating the construction of houses of worship, then after a while the law is being mothballed once again.

Until the last incidents of Imbābah when Egypt was teetering on the edge of a disaster, the Prime Minister only decided to have the law activated.

The law, he added, has to include the right for every 100 person, from a specific religion or denomination, to have a house of worship that is three kilometers near them.

Also, there must be a space between houses of worship even if they belong to the same religion. Finally, a house of worship should be meant only for worshipping and should not be used for political gains or election campaigns.
