Human Rights Organisation condemns incidents of terrorism

 Egyptian Human Rights Organisation has condemned incidents of terrorism that have taken place in the governorates Kafr Al-Shaykh, North Sinai, Fayūm and Qaluybia. These events claimed several victims, including citizens and military personnel.

Egyptian Official: We asked the EU to stop funding the two leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood but they haven’t replied

 An Egyptian official said yesterday that his country has addressed the European Union, asking them to stop funding the two leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood but has not received a response. The responsible has refused to disclose the outcome of previous requests directed towards the EU.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Hungary discusses strengthening relations in various fields

National Council for Human Rights holds a training program in Sohag

 The National Council for Human Rights in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and UNESCO are holding a training program tomorrow with the Badia and Rashad elementary schools, in the region of Sohag. The program aims to transmit the value of human rights to children by means of games and activities, and make them aware of the fundamental rights that children possess. This is part of the work aiming to support, establish and make people aware of their human rights.

Mass movement to remove the hijab splits Egypt into supporters and opponents

 The call of journalist Sharīf al-Shobashī for women to remove the headscarf has lead to the organisation of a mass demonstration in Tahrir Square. Comments on social media site Facebook show that opinions are divided on this matter. Some are in favour of removing the hijab on the basis of personal freedom whereas those who refuse the journalist’s call do so believe wearing the headscarf is a religious duty.
