This sums up the idea of the book considering many people’s defense of Hassan Al-Banna, on the grounds that the man did not know about the crimes perpetrated by the armed clandestine group and that he had openly denounced these crimes in certain articles.
Dr. Nasr Abu Zayd delivered this lecture upon accepting the prestigious Cleveringa professorial chair at Leiden University in The Netherlands with the request to teach justice, freedom and responsibility and especially the freedom of religion and liberty of conscience. The lecture discussed the nature of the Qur’an and explains the reason for internal political, social, ideological and intellectual conflict in most of the Muslim countries which is almost everywhere polarized between the secularists and the Islamists.
