Signing a
21 million pound restoration contract
Egypt’s minister of culture has
signed a contract of 21 million
Egyptian pounds to restore the famous Hanging Church bringing to an end a
15-year-old dispute about the restoration
of the 5th century church. The aim is to develop historical old
Cairo which includes the mosque of Amr Ibn El-Ass,
the first mosque in Egypt, and the Jewish synagogue of
Ibn Ezra. The head of the International Dialogue Association
between religions in Paris, Dr. Ali El-Saman,
said "This project is a symbol of the national unity in Egypt."
