Article full text:

A number of prominent Egyptian figures issued a statement concerning Lord Alton’s intended visit to Egypt. They said in their statement:
’We affirm all Egyptian citizens’ continual rejection to any attempt of foreign intervention in Egypt’s affairs. We refuse the invitation some people sent to Lord Alton, member of the British House of Lords, to visit Egypt to investigate by himself the status of the Copts. Previous experiences with Lord Alton makes us believe he is not objective and he does not present the facts as they are. He is used to deliberately writing falsified reports as he did three years ago when he visited Egypt and met a number of Coptic and Muslim figures. Then, in a report to the British House of Lords, he falsified the facts he got. We reject the visit and his invitation that lacks understandable reasons and objectives’.

The statement was signed by Ahmed Al-Gamal, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah, Dr. Tharwat Ishak, George Ishak, George Agaypy, Dr, Selim Al-’Awa, Samir Morcos, Adel Halim, Dr. Imad Seyam, Dr. Mohamed Imara, and Nabil Abdel Fatah.
