Some Coptic sources said this law has been prepared since 1980, but it was not carried out. These sources described that law as the means of unity between the different churches. This law aims at protecting the Christian family and preventing the manipulation of Christian sects. The law is studied nowadays by Al- Azhar and the Ministry of Justice prior to approving it. Afterwards, this law will be sent to Parliament for its approval.
