Dr. Sayyed Tantawi, Sheikh of Al-Azhar congratulated Muslims and Christians on the incidence of having the fasting periods of the two religions together. [Eastern Orthodox Christians fast for 43 days (from November 25) before celebrating Christmas on January 7. This year Muslims started the Ramadan fast on December 9] He said, "It is a gift from God that the month of fasting for Muslims comes with the fasting period of our Coptic brothers". Pope Shenouda asked all nations to support Chechnya that is suffering from major injustice.
Pope Shenouda invited all the guests to the national unity breakfast to a breakfast party held in the [Coptic Orthodox] Cathedral this week. Among the guests to the national unity breakfast was Dr. Atef Ebeid, the Prime Minister who came a few minutes late after the breaking of the fast. He said, "Sorry, for being late because of traffic and the jamming of cars on [the Sixth of] October Bridge". The Prime Minister asked for beans with lemon and baladi bread. He refused to eat turkey or lamb meat. Pope Shenouda asked for a dish of fish because of fasting.
Dr. Fathi Sorour came, and requested - as soon as he entered the hall of the Infantry House - the turning off the air-conditioning as he had a cold.

Many of the former [parliament] ministers were invited but did not come although there was a large table with their names on it.
