The counselor Maher Abdel-Wahed, the attorney general, continues to pursue the investigations, which are being made by high state security prosecution into the tragic incidents in Al-Kosheh village in Sohag and Dar Al-Salam district. The prosecution team listened to the testimonies of 45 Christians and Muslims. They complained to the prosecution about being subjected to robbery, their houses to looting and their shops to destruction. The counselor Hisham Saraya, the general attorney, is supervising the investigations. He ordered the release of three suspects.
The first general attorney ordered the arrest of 59 suspects, but 24 suspects were released due to the orders of the prosecution service because it was proved that they did not participate in the incidents. The investigations showed that 2 Christians and 19 Muslims are arrested. They also showed that the prosecution ordered the arrest of Bishop Gabra’il Abdel-Messih [also this paper used the wrong title. Father Gabra’il is priest, not bishop]. The counselor Hisham Saraya urged the police to arrest the rest of the suspects and finish their researches in order to seize the weapons used in the incidents and to know their source. The prosecution is still waiting to listen to the testimonies of the injured. It was known that many injured people were treated, but they have not registered their testimonies concerning the tragic incidents, which caused their injuries.
The team of investigators is still listening to the testimonies of new eyewitnesses in the village and presenting information for the benefit of the current investigations, especially because the testimonies of the eyewitnesses contradicted with the time of shooting and the acts of burning, the looting of a number of houses, shops and kiosks in the village and Dar Al-Salam district.
