Next May, Cairo will play host the largest ever gathering of ministers and scholars for the thirteenth Global Islamic Conference of the Supreme Islamic Council following the Awqaf Ministry. There will be delegates from 85 countries including Islamic and Arabic states. The main issue of the conference is to discuss Islamic innovations in thought as a continuation of the two previous conferences whose themes concerned a civil project to awaken the Islamic world. The Awqaf Minister and head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Dr. Mahmoud Hamdy Zaqzouq, who will lead the conference declared that the conference would be held under the auspices of President Mubarak and would continue for four days. It will be followed by a global celebration of the Birth of the Prophet Mohammed, which will also be attended by President Mubarak.



The honorary head of the conference will be the Azhar Grand Sheikh, Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi, who will participate in the sessions and in the final declaration of the conference. The outcome is expected to raise the level of global awareness about what Islamic innovation could offer. The minister also stated that Egypt organizes this conference annually due to her historic responsibility as the country of the Azhar. The people and government are doing all they can to correct misconceptions about Islam and pave the way ahead for correct Islamic thinking.



The main research and discussions will revolve around the importance of innovation, creation and the trials of Islam both present and future. They will also cover the most recent discoveries in medicine, economics and changes to the social Islamic actuality and the political Islamic actuality besides women and children’s rights.
