Tomorrow the activities of the Islamic-Christian summit will start in the Vatican. A large number of Islamic intellectuals and Christian clergymen will take part in it to study the ways of dealing with the negative consequences of the attacks in the United States and its effect on the relationship between the two religions.

The Islamic delegation is led by Dr. Youssef Al-Qaradawi and taking part from Egypt will be the Mufti Dr. Nasr Farid Wasel, Dr. Ahmed Kamal Abu Al Magd, Dr. Mohammed Selim Al-Awa and Fahmi Howeidi. Dr. Mohammed Omara apologized for his absence due to illness. Other Islamic pioneers from other countries will be present as well.

Dr. Mohammed Selim Al-Awa said the conference was organized by the Saint Egidius Organization in the Vatican, which called for holding such a conference because of the dangerous collapse in relations between the west and the Islamic minorities living there-something that was reflected in the burning down of mosques and killing or attacking of people although they were innocent of terrorism. This had negatively affected the relations between the two religions for the time being and will affect them in the future. The conference aims to study the ways to solve this problem, which caused Islam and Muslims to be accused of being the cause of the phenomena of terrorism in the world.

The Islamic writer Fahmi Howeidi added, "We accepted this invitation which aims at removing the tension of the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims in different countries (we are the dialogue servants with others for the benefit of everybody) thus we need this dialogue very much due to the present circumstances." Although Dr. Mohammed Omara could not travel, he assured that there would be a discussion about the media campaign against Islam and Christianity after the American events. There would also be a discussion on the western tyranny and injustice against the Islamic world as reflected in the Palestinian issue, the building of military bases, the economic invasion, the political following and control of the United Nations and the whole world.
