Everyday, President Mubarak proves that he is the president of all Egyptians, a president that does justice, observes the truth and rejects arbitration, a president who works with all honesty for the well being of the people and to protect national unity between Muslims and Christians.
President Mubarak ordered the rebuilding of the services building of the church of Shoubra Al-Kheima, which was destroyed by the local authority, who depended on the claim that no permission had been given to built it.
Pope Shenouda sent the President a telegram in which he thanked him for his decision. The telegram reads as follows.
"Your wise and determined decision that charged Al-Qalyubiya governorate with rebuilding the services building... gratified Copts and soothes them.
Every time Copts resort to your justice, they feel...your care for them and your handling of matters with a spirit of justice and tolerance.
With all our thanks...May God keep you safe for Egyptians.
Pope Shenouda III."
Bishop Marcos, the Bishop of Shoubra Al-Kheima, and Tharwat Basili, the Deputy of the Maglis el-Milli [Congregational Council] also thanked the President for his decision.
