The rebellion of the young women of the Azhar University has started. The Administrative Court affiliated to the State Council is currently examining about 60 lawsuits filed by female students from the Azhar University demanding equality with male students. The Azhar University prefers to enlist male students in its top faculties at the time it enlists female students in other faculties against their will.

For example, Hanaa Fawzi Aly Al-Sheraki passed the Azharite high school with a total score of 599, 5 grades. In filling application papers, she wrote that her first choice is the faculty of dental medicine. Hanaa was surprised to know that she was accepted in the faculty of Science. Later she got to know that a male student, who got a less score than hers, was accepted in the faculty of dental medicine. This discrimination between males and females in qualification grades resulted in a big gap between the numbers of male and female students in top faculties.

This happens at the Azhar University in spite of the fact that the Egyptian law and constitution doe not discriminate between males and females.
