In an audacious move, the Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni decided to bring a number of videotapes of shows presented by students of the Modern Dance Schools before members of the People's Assembly, including the 16 members affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Ali Laban, a member of the parliament affiliated with the Brotherhood, submitted an interpellation to the Minister of Culture in which he demanded the closure of the dance school in order to avoid its evils. The Minister of Culture said that that some believe that the school teaches belly dance, "We will offer evidences that the school is concerned with modern dance that involves no nudity or indecency," Farouq Hosni emphasized.
This is the second time members of the People's Assembly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood demands the closure of the dance school. The Minister of Culture stressed that he is not willing to succumb to the whims of the Brotherhood. Remarkably strange the number of students who join the school is continually decreasing because of the School Administration apply tough conditions on those who apply to join the school. Out of the one hundred persons who applied this year to join the school, only two were accepted.
