The Egyptian Federation for Human Rights will submit a petition to Pope Shenouda III, the Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, before the Holy Synod endorses a ruling issued by the Coptic Church’s clerical council to suspend Filopātīr Jamīl from priesthood for two years for betraying the church. The ruling denied Priest Filopātīr performing any prayers or religious rituals for two years.

The Holy Synod met under Bishop Bīshouy, the Bishop of Damietta and Kafr al-Shaykh and the Synod Secretary General, as well as Bishop Armiyā, the secretary of Pope Shenouda.
