The
author voiced concern over the huge financial fines imposed in the place of the jailing punishment
for
publishing related offenses, underlining that the new law must include bearable fines.
He stressed that
there has been no change on the journalistic scene, however he expressed optimism for the upcoming
stage.
The author believes there is US penetration of Egyptian journalism and that some private
newspapers
are getting financial aid through civil institutions.
He criticized the role played by the
Syndicate of
Journalisms, arguing that it is not strong enough.
