Representatives of 700 Methodist churches from all over the United States have attended The United Methodist churches’ annual conference, which was held in Washington. This was in order to vote on the decisions on whether to withdraw the church’s investments from companies operating in Israel. The decisions were made due to Israel’s continuous attacks on the Palestinian people.
United Methodist, a protestant denomination in the United States, aims to deprive Israel in stages. This will be done by withdrawing from any multinational companies which benefit from the occupation as a means of ending the military occupation of the Palestinian territories.
It is noteworthy that the proposals of the United Methodist Church and other churches to punish Israel are subject to criticism from Israeli and Christian Zionist organizations which back Israel.
