Commenting on the movie ’Hasan and Marqus’, Jamāl al-Bannā says that Hasan and Marqus could be brothers, with Cohen being their third brother.
He explains that the three heavenly religions come back to Abraham, with Muhammad, Moses and Jesus being his sons, even if their mothers, Hājar, Sara and Mary were different. This implies that Marqus is the brother of Hasan.
The author says that some French schools invited him to watch the movie and comment on it.
He says that there is one God for all humans, be it Muslims, Christians or Jewish. Therefore, when a Muslim or a Christian converts, this does not demolish the fundamental basis of all religions, which is belief in God.
Therefore, Hasan can be Marqus and Marqus can be Hasan. He quotes the verse of "Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allāh and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord" [sūrah 2, verse 62, The Meaning of the Glorious Qur’ān by Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, www.sacred-texts.com/isl/pick/002.htm.] He says that the verse only mentioned belief in God and righteous actions, which is supposed to be in Hasan and Marqus.
He adds that even if Islam is different from Christianity in form, this does not depreciate God, as religion comes from God, not the other way around.
