On the occasion of Pope Shenouda III’s 55th anniversary in monastic life, al-Musawwar of July 29, 2009 published a file hailing Pope Shenouda, ’the nation’s monk’.
Sanā’ al-Sa‘īd conducted a lengthy interview with Pope Shenouda who spoke about his life and his vocation of monastic life in addition to elements of the present reality of monasticism in Egypt.
In the same file, Tāhah Farghalī published a detailed report about the Monastery of Saint Bīshūy where Pope Shenouda had spent 40 months following Former President Anwar al-Sādāt’s decision to subject Pope Shenouda to a forced stay at the monastery. [See the review of the report in article 33]
Midhat Bīshay gave a biography of Pope Shenouda’s life between July 18, 1954 when he joined monastic life, and October 31, 1971 when he was ordained Patriarch.
