Egypt has rejected the American report on human rights in Egypt.
Husām Zakī, the spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Egypt’s attention to human rights issues is a result of Egypt’s excessive care about human rights. He called on all foreign entities to respect the privacy of Egypt’s internal affairs, stressing that only authentic, specialized international organizations are binding to Egypt.
Al-Dustūr also covered the report, which noted that the Egyptian government’s behavior is still poor and that there are persistent and serious violations in freedom of expression, the state of emergency, torture in prisons and the dominance of the security authorities over the judiciary.
