Arab West Report Egyptian press summaries and media research for dialogue

The author highlights the recent report issued by the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights. The report, which is entitled “Sectarian violence in two years… what happened and from where did it start,” sheds light on the sectarian violence over the period form January 2008 through January 2010, depending on the analysis of the sectarian events that took place over this period. The report mentions 53 incidents in 17 Egyptian governorates, with the most violent incidents in the governorates of Upper Egypt. The report observes that state representatives object to the Coptic gathering for prayer in houses. The report also highlights the issue of building houses of worship, and calls on parliament to discuss the issue of sectarian violence openly.
