Dr. Safwat al-Bayyādī, head of the Evangelical Community Council in Egypt Community Council [Editor: the article mistakenly stated that he is the head of the Evangelical Church] stated that submitting to the ruler is a Biblical principle, provided that the ruler is not corrupt and doesn’t violate God’s commandments.
 
With regard to the Evangelical Church’s support in the coming presidential elections, al-Bayyādī stated that everybody is free to express their preferences; however, it is not of the church’s business to direct people to vote for a given person; for that is an unexpected interference in politics.
