Pope Shenouda issued a ruling preventing monks’ travel without permission.
Article full text:
The Secretary General of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Bishop Bīshūy, denied the statements al-Wafd newspaper ascribed to him. Bishop Bīshūy asserted that he had not given any press declarations during his time in hospital.

In a related context, Bayyūmī reported that Pope Shenouda III had decided to prevent monks’ travels without his documented approval, under threat of defrocking. Pope Shenouda gave monks who are abroad a margin of four weeks from the date of the decision to come back under the penalty of defrocking.

A monk called Mosis al-Muharraqī was specified in the decision because he had left to Indiana in the United States. Pope Shenouda gave him a time limit of two weeks to be back in Egypt.
