“Who is God?” is the title of the ‘Ākhir Sā‘ah collection of articles published on April 21, 2010. The collection, prepared by Shihātah Salāmah, discussed the broad lines of the history of human belief, starting from the old ages before the heavenly religions were revealed until the atheist philosophies and theories that announced the death of God and denied His existence.
In the first article Shihātah shed light on the concept of god in the Greek philosophies, highlighting Aristotle’s belief that God is the absolute perfection that is about to be the absolute nothingness; for they are equal.
Discussing Judaism, Shihātah stated that God is that of the one prophet and the one people. God is also merciful and just.
In Christianity, Shihātah highlighted the concept of the trinity. Shihātah stated that the three Christian denominations believe that God is one and He is the origin of everything. He is not in limited by time or place. Shihātah stated that Christians believe that God is the creator of Heavens and the Earth and every human soul.
In Islam, searching for the truth of existence is the way to know the Creator. Shihātah stated that Islam calls on human beings to think and meditate to reach the truth of their existence. Moreover, he stated that in Qur’ān the Divine cannot be limited to knowledge.
Moreover, Shihātah discussed the existence of God in modern philosophies and theories. He spoke about the influence of a Western occupation on people’s beliefs in Arab countries. However, he stated that atheism did not have a strong impact in Arab and Islamic countries.
Finally, Shihātah highlights what he thinks are the most famous atheist websites. He mentioned the Arab Atheists Website, which he says is specialized in spreading atheism and attacking Islam and Islamic figures[Arab Atheists Network: http://www.el7ad.com]. He also mentioned the website of the “non religious Arabs,” Christians for Christ, the real visage of Islam and Qur’ānet, which Shihātah says is an Israeli Website that calls to bridge the gap between the West and Islam. Shihātah claims that the website is full of errors and forgery of the Qur’ān and the Hadīth.
Shihātah also mentioned Facebook and a number of groups that are against religions. Shihātah criticized the atheist websites for being devoid of any valuable content.
