In this article, the authors report on a number of western books which attack Christ and the Virgin Mary. These books are:

  • ‘The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ’ by Philip Pullman.
In the novel, Pullman alleges that Mary gave birth to a twin, the good Jesus and the scoundrel Christ, where the latter corrupted the teachings of his good brother. Although he is known to be an atheist, Pullman’s books are widely sold in Europe.

  •  ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ by Paul Verhoeven, author and director.
In this book, which was turned into a film, the author and director of the film believes that Mary was raped by a Roman soldier and gave birth to Christ. She then married Joseph the Carpenter so Jesus was called the carpenter’s son. Verhoeven states that the story of crucifixion is a mere fabrication.

  • ‘The Jesus Dynasty’ by James D. Tabor.
Tabor states in his novel that Jesus’ family consisted of his parents and six siblings, with different fathers for each sibling. As the elder sibling, Jesus brought up his siblings and used them to establish a great empire. He elected his disciple John to keep the Torah and after his crucifixion his brother James became the successor and preached a new religion.

  • ‘Jesus after the Crucifixion’ by Graham Simmans.
In his book, Simmans alleges that Jesus was not crucified and escaped to live in France with his mother, Mary, and his wife, Mary Magdalene. He lived in France and from there Christianity emerged. Simmans states that he has spent his life in search of these facts.

  • ‘The Two Marys’ by Sylvia Brwone.
The books author believes that Jesus’ mother, Mary, and Mary Magdalene were the two women who formulated the principles of Christianity and the Gospel. She believes that the Magdalene was Jesus’ wife and she played a crucial role in his teachings.

  • ‘The Jesus Discovery’ by Adam Bradford.
Bradford believes that Jesus was a highly educated man of the middle class and his father, Joseph, was an engineer. He states that Jesus was a famous Rabbi, and his revolutionary teachings affected Jews. He alleges that the Greek word “tekton,” mentioned in the Gospel, does not mean “carpenter” but senior engineer.

  •  ‘The God Evolution’ by Robert Wright.
In this book, Wright attacks God in all religions, especially Christianity, which he describes as an invention. He raises doubts concerning the crucifixion story and confirms that the big problem is the difference between the historical Jesus and the Jesus as mentioned in the Gospel. The last chapter of this book highlights the triumph of Islam over Christianity.
