The attacks against Churches in Malaysia increased yesterday amid calls to release calm the tensions that had started after a court ruling allowed a Christian publication to use God’s name
Allāh.
Explosives and stones have been used in the attacks. Christians comprisemake up Nine 9%percent of the 28.000.000 million people of in Malaysia and most of them are located in Sarawak.
Christians declared that they met the attacks with a spirits of love and hoped to end the attacks regardless of any religious factor.
Al-Sharq al-Awsat reported thatthe court ruling that permitted a Catholic publication to use the name of God word ‘
Allāh’ to mean ‘God’ had raised Muslims’ anger and protests. After the Friday prayers they attacked churches. Al-Sharq al-Awsat reported that the Pentecostal Church was the most hurt in the attacks. The Malaysian prime minister visited the church and offered governmental funds to rebuild the churchit.
Some people were doubtful about the government’s promises to spread more security forces at the churches. A police officer of a high rank was reported as asking churches to manage their own security matters because of the shortage in the number of policemen.
