The Iincidents of Naj‘ Hammādī overwhelmingly loomed ominously over the Coptic Orthodox Church’s Christmas this year. However, Pope Shnenouda III still hosted the public and political figures who came to greet him in Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo.

 
Al-Akhbār of January 8, 2010 published that pope Pope Shenouda received Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Nazīf, the Azhar Grand Imām Muhammad Sayyid Tatāwī, Dr. Fathī Surūr, speaker of the People’s Assembly, Safwat al-Sharīf, head of the Shūrá Council, and Dr. Mahmūd Hamdī Zaqzūq, minister of Eendowments. Diyā’ Abū-Safā of al-Akhbār stated that the meetings were characterized with by cordial spirits. Greeters asserted the cordial peaceful relations between Muslims and Christians in Egypt that cannot be disturbed by individual isolated incidents and attacks.
