Bishop Bākhūmius of Beheira and Matruh confirms that there are some foreign countries who seek to ignite fitnah in Egypt in order to interfere and dominate the situation, seeing what is happening in the Nile Basin is a conspiracy against Egypt. He states that Egypt is suffering a problem concerning the principle of citizenship. He points out that the reasons behind fitnah come from the media, education, family and houses of worship, as well as the attempts of some foreign countries to destabilize the situation in Egypt. As far as the Church’s role in fighting finah, the bishop asserts that the Church stresses the citizenship spirit and prays for the prosperity of the country.
