As a reaction to the publication of an article about Father Jibrā’īl ‘Abd al-Masīh of al-Kushh in a previous article, Rose al-Yūsuf’s website received many comments from readers revealing that there are severe divisions among the people of al-Kushh concerning this priest. It was reported that Pope Shenouda praised, in his weekly sermon, this priest as the best priest in Upper Egypt, despite the 500 complaints sent by the people of al-Kushh. The comments also show that there is a dispute between the priest and his bishop, Bishop Wīssā of al-Balyanā. The fans of this priest started to submit signed letters to Pope Shenouda to clarify that the opponents of Father Jibrā’īl ‘Abd al-Masīh are simply a few spiteful people from al-Kushh, while the majority love and support him.
