Dismissed priest Andrāws Azīz decided to issue a series of books entitled The Orthodox Church and the Clash of Generations and has already presented the first part of the series called “The Church and Politics” in 96 pages.
The book starts with a dedication to Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria.
It asserts that the Church and the clergymen’s work are far from politics as Christianity is a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus and politics could detract from its goal(s).
The author of the book made a study to defend his writing and used an interview conducted with Pope Shenouda by journalist Sanā’ al-Sa‘īd. He later issued comments on the Pope’s answers, describing them as an expression of a political man not a clergyman.
The priest continues with a second part entitled “The Religious Terror.”
The Evangelical Coptic authority for social services organized a forum for cultural dialogue, with the participation of priest Andriyā Zakī, deputy chairman of the Evangelical sect in Egypt,
Shaykh Sālim Abd al-Jalīl from the Awqaf Ministry (religious endowment) and several priests and Muslim scholars in Egypt.
The conference tackled various cultural issues and religious values which could contribute in national cohesion in Egypt.
