Dr. Hassan Nāf‘ah, coordinator of the National Assembly for Change (NAC), which was founded by Dr. Mohamed al-Barad‘ī, former Director General of the International Agency for Atomic Energy and potential presidential candidate, has resigned from his post after only four months since the NAC was launched.
Nāf‘ah said he resigned after the political parties failed to solve their disputes, to unify their ranks, and to introduce the minimum level of change.
"I resigned to give a chance to fresh blood to lead the Assembly in the coming period. Moreover, the Assembly lacks a great deal of its presence in the street due to the frequent absence of Dr. Barad‘ī," Nāf‘ah added.
On the other hand, Dr. ‘Isām al-cIriyān, member of the funding office of the Muslim Brotherhood said, "The group till now doesn't support particular persons, but it supports the demands. We are partners in the NAC, presided by Barad‘ī and we signed and approved his program. However, our participation in the signatures campaign is still contingent upon the expected meeting between the two sides."
