Members of parliament from the National Democratic Party (NDP) continue their campaign against the Muslim Brotherhood inside the national security and defense committee in the People’s Assembly. ‘Abd al-Rahmān Rādī asked the Ministry of Interior Affairs to arrest supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood candidates. MP Majdī al-Si‘dāwī criticized the position taken by the Minister of Interior Affairs, for his inaction against members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Si‘dāwī added that it is the right of the Ministry to arrest supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, especially because they started their election campaigns before the set start date.
MP ‘Abd al-Rahmān (NDP) asserted that members of the Muslim Brotherhood should have been arrested for using religious slogans during their campaigns in the Shurá elections. He explained that it is known that such religious slogans are not allowed in electoral campaigns. On the other hand, MP ‘Isām Mukhtār (Muslim Brotherhood) described what happened on the part of the NDP during the Shūrá elections as a killing of democracy and political variety.
