In Asyut, al-Mharraq Monastery, in which the Holy family lived for six months and where 40 Ethiopian monks live, lays an important factor that Egypt can use to support Egyptian diplomatic efforts in its battle against Israeli penetration in the Nile source countries.

This place in Upper Egypt has a special spiritual significance for Ethiopians. They travel thousand of kilometers to visit where Christ inaugurated the first altar in the world. Moreover, the Ethiopian Church has strong ties with the Egyptian Church, and until two years ago, Pope Shenouda was the Pope of Ethiopia.

The Egyptian Government can make use of all this to support its situation in the Nile water crisis.
