Invented and developed by Christians, football is prohibited for Muslims, declared
Shaykh Muhammad Abū ‘Abdullāj, head of Islamic militants in Somalia, calling Somalis to boycott the World Cup 2010.
Despite these firm resolutions, however, many gathered in their house north east of Mogadishu to watch the Nigeria-Argentina match. The militant forces discovered the incident and attacked the house, killing two and injuring nine.
This is not the first time the leaders of Somali militants declare the prohibition of watching football. This exact scenario took place during the previous world cup in Germany.
Ironically enough, at the time football is banned in Somalia for being a Christian sport, Christian-Brazilian players are banned to perform their prayers on the field as usual, because the FIFA wants football to have no relation with religion.
