Article full text:
Pope Shenouda of Alexandria met with Dr. Mufīd Shihāb, the State’s Minister for Parliamentary Councils, in the papal residency to discuss the unified personal status law for Christian denominations, which is currently under review by the Ministry of Justice. The Pope appreciated the effort exerted by the state in reviewing the law and referred to the Church’s rejection of the judgment of the Administrative Court with regard to re-marriage, as it contradicts the Gospel’s teachings. The Pope also mentioned that the Church removed the chapter concerning adoption from the draft, for the consideration of Muslim feelings.
