A rape causes Christian-Muslim sectarian tensions in Suez, and a group of Christians gathered in the village of Jinīnah after the incident. A Christian girl made a police report accusing a Muslim farmer, from the same village, of raping her in a barn on her family’s farm.
Police forces moved to the village to deal with the crisis and arrested the farmer. He denied using force with the girl, claiming that he had sexual intercourse with her by her own free will.
