Pope Shenouda of Alexandria, in his weekly sermon, denounced rumors published a newspaper about the new personal status law, confirming that he is the only spokesman of the Orthodox Church. The draft of the personal status law, which was signed by representatives from different Christian denominations in Egypt, is now being reviewed by the Ministry of Justice. Counselor Malik Mīna, one of the representatives of the Orthodox Church, states that the committee of the Justice Ministry has agreed on the name of the new law to be the “Christian Family Law” and will finish reviewing it before July 15, as appointed by the Minister of Justice.
