Pope Shenouda lll of Alexandria received
Shaykh Frīha al-Ahmad al-Jābir al-Sabbāh, sister of the Kuwaiti Emir at the Papal headquarters, Cairo, where Shaykhah Frīha stressed the depth of good relations with the Pope, and announced that she has donated 6500 meters of land for building a Coptic Church in Kuwait, a matter which underlines the spirit of togetherness between Christians and Muslims in Kuwait.
She further mentioned that she has invited Pope Shenouda to inaugurate the church after finishing construction, and underlined that Emir
Shaykh Jābir al-Ahmed al-Sabbāh has immediately approved the building of the church. Moreover, there is no difficulty to build churches in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the Pope conferred with Ayman Kāmil, Egyptian Consul in Australia, on some issues related to Sidney, given that the Consul has assumed his post a short time ago.
The Consul said that his visit to the Pope came in order to take his advice, but he declined to disclose the number of churches in Australia, saying that the Egyptian Consulate carries the Copts' demands to the sovereign quarters for solving.
The Pope said that the Coptic Church has 50 priests in Sidney, but there are no convents. The Pope added that his first visit to Sidney was in 1989, hailing the good spirit of the people there.
