The author interviewed Anbā Maxīmūs, the bishop of Banhā and Quisnā, regarding several issues concerning Copts in Egypt.

The Anbā spoke about peace and how to achieve it and its definition in Christianity, underlining that one of God’s titles is the chief of peace and Holy Bible’s name is the Bible of peace.

“Peace requires effort, although it’s a basic element in the human soul,” he underlined in the interview.

The Anbā underlined that Christians and Muslims have to work together, in coordination with civil society organizations, to support the Egyptian Initiative for Human Rights, which issued a report under the title “the sectarian violence in 2008-2010” which registered 53 incidents in 17 governorates.

“The report noted that the higher percentage of sectarian violence took place in Upper Egypt, and this is due to the tough nature of this region, in addition to the lack of awareness.”

“In Upper Egypt, father still hits his sons and women are still beaten,” he said, pointing out that this region remains a suitable place for raising terrorists as a result of the bad economic condition and the high unemployment rate.
