Dr. Muhammad Salīm al-‘Awwā, former Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), said he declined to have his tenure renewed during the 3rd IUMS general assembly meeting, deniying that "health reasons" were behind his decision.

 

"I have refused the post for this session due to personal reasons," he said, not revealing any details about these reasons.
