A new draft statute to select the next Coptic Orthodox Pope is expected to stir up issues now that it envisages a proposal to hold live debates among the candidates for the post.

The draft, handed to Anba Ermia, the Pope's secretary, from cĀdil Fakhrī Daniel, the founder of the under-construction Al-Istiqāma (Straightforwardness) Party, was termed by Qummus (Archpriest) cAbd al-Mas
