Article summary:
Upon its launch 14 years ago, Sat7 was the first Egyptian Christian satellite channel.  The Evangelical Channel has now several counterparts. In addition to two more Evangelical channels, several Orthodox channels recently appeared, especially to face what they consider an Evangelical cultural invasion. Both Bishop Marcus and Bishop Benjamin (translator: members of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church) agree that the channels supervised by the Orthodox Church, which depend mainly on donations, aim at spreading the peaceful teachings of Christianity and avoid any area of controversy. By contrast, Dr. Ikrām Lam‘ī, the Evangelical priest and Dr.Gamāl  As‘ad , the Orthodox thinker, see that these channels focus on many superficial points, the sanctification of Christian Egyptian figures  (namely Pope Shenouda III) and , some of them, on provoking Muslims.
