The absence the wife of the priest of Dīr Mawwās and the consequent demonstration of hundreds of Copts, as well as the bishops’ failure to resolve the crisis in the pope’s absence made some suggest that the idea of establishing a committee formed of bishops and members of the Coptic Orthodox Community Council for administrating the church.
Coptic thinker Jamāl As'ad says that many Copts will oppose establishing such a committee adding that there are many committees already in the church but they have no effective roles.
