The committee formed to prepare a unified personal status law for non-Muslims has finished its work.
The Roman Orthodox and Bahā’īs sent letters to the minister of justice asking to be included in the draft law. A fifth letter was sent by Coptic laymen calling for some amendments in addition to a sixth letter sent by “Support Copts’ Right to get a Divorce” calling for a civil law to regulate Copts’ marriage and divorce. The minister has not yet responded to any of these messages.
