The two nominees of the National Democratic Party in Naj' Hammādī for the parliamentary elections are facing serious threats. On the one hand, Copts threatened to boycott the elections if 'Abd al-Rahīm al-Ghūl, whom they accuse of being behind the massacre of Naj' Hammādī, is nominated on the NDP’s list.
On the other hand, Fathī Qandīl loses his popularity against his brother Fakhrī Qandīl who is competing for the same seat.
