In an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Hamdī Zaqzūq, Egyptian minister of Awqaf [Endowments], stressed that the cause of Jerusalem is an Islamic cause in the first place.

He stressed that his call to visit al-Aqsá Mosque emerged from his intention to assert the Islamic right to Jerusalem, denying that it may represent any kind of normalization with Israel.

He stated that the problem of Muslims is backwardness and that they do not produce their own products. He called on religious satellite channels to focus on this important issue.
