Pope Shenouda is studying issuing a decree to increase the salaries of clergymen in all Egyptian dioceses to cope with the increase in prices and prevent consequent domestic problems. Najīb Jibrā’īl, head of the Egyptian Union for Human Rights, stated that the papal decree will be issued within days in this regard. Jibrā’īl also called for preventing priest’s wives from working outside the church.
