Five hundred activists in solidarity with Kamilia Shehata stood outside the Mosque of Amr Ibn El-As yesterday, demanding that Pope Shenouda III allow her to publicly announce whether or not she has converted to Islam. The activists announced their plans to hold another demonstration after the Eid prayers next Friday, and threatened to blockade the Abbasia Cathedral. The Church announced its refusal to respond to demonstrations and said that the Pope and Cathedral are "a line not to be crossed."
