Nine Copts are competing for the parliamentary elections in different districts in Alexandria. One of them is Najih Zākhir who is running for a district currently represented by a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Zākhir is believed to have a strong fan base and is favored by the ruling party for his public speaking skills.
